U.S. ISSUES SPAY/NEUTER STAMPS

FRESNO, Calif. -- For five years, the Virginia-based Prevent a Litter Coalition (PaLC) worked tirelessly to get the U.S. Postal Service to issue a stamp that would raise awareness of pet overpopulation.

The hard work paid off, with the introduction of two spay/neuter stamps as part of the U.S. Stamp Program for 2002.

The artwork for the stamps was unveiled on October 17th, 2001 as PaLC leaders sent a heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported the project. "And though we're approaching our own personal 'happily ever after,'" said a statement from the organization, "this isn't yet the end of the road -- or the story. PaLC will be partnering with the Postal Service to plan great promotional tie-ins and educational opportunities aimed at maximizing the stamps' impact."
